Name of creator
William Lyle was born in 25 Oct 1879 to Mary Ann Cameron and George Urquhart Lyle in Scotland. William married Mary Anne Durward on 4 Jun 1907 in Scotland. The following year William and Mary emigrated to Canada and settled in Edmonton.
William worked as a tailor until 1913 when he became involved with the Twin City Dyers and Cleaning company, situated at 10727 – 105 Street. By 1926 he was the proprietor of the business, until his death in 1941.
William Lyle died 29 Jan 1941 in Edmonton.
It is not known how Stanley Carter acquired the records.
Scope and content
The fonds consists of business licenses issued to William Lyle by the City of Edmonton, 1926, 1930, 1932, 1934, 1935, 1936, 1937, and 1939.

This fonds was donated to the City of Edmonton Archives by Stanley E. Carter in 1971.
