Name of creator
Les Kozma was born in 1953 in Budapest, Hungary. When Les was three years old, his father moved the family out during the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. The family settled in Edmonton. Les graduated from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in architecture. He worked as an independent construction project director until 2000, when he joined Ledcor.
He is a railway enthusiast and author with articles published in several railroad magazines as well as a book.
Scope and content
This fonds consists the December 1983 issue of "The Marker", a newsletter published by the Alberta Pioneer Railway Association. The newsletter includes an article on the consolidation of the Canadian Northern Railway and the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway at Edmonton written by Les Kozma.
The records also include sets of blueprints for the Canadian Northern Railway Station in Edmonton (4 sections, 1/8"=1' scale) and the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) Station in Strathcona (3 sections, 1/8"=1' scale), which are reproduced in the article.
There is also a book, 'Canadian Pacific's Western Depots: the Country Stations in Western Canada', by Les Kozma and Charles Bohi (385 BOH).
Immediate source of acquisition
This fonds was donated to the City of Edmonton Archives by Les Kozma in 1984, 1993 and 1995.
