Biographical history

Charles William Morrow was born in Prescott, Ontario in 1897. He was educated in British Columbia and began his law career in 1920. He was an MLA from 1945 to 1952 and named Queen’s Counsel in 1956. Morrow was elevated to the bench in 1956 and led several Royal Commissions for the British Columbia government. Charles William Morrow retired in 1972 and died in 1980.

Custodial history

The photographs were from the estate of Lord Heneage. Judge C.W. Morrow was the executor of the estate and forwarded the photographs to the City of Edmonton Archives because they were images of Edmonton and “of no intrinsic value” to the estate.

Scope and content

The collection consists of photographs of Edmonton, including road construction, residential scenes, Jasper Avenue and the North Saskatchewan River

This fonds was donated to the City of Edmonton Archives by Judge C.W. Morrow in 1967.
