This series consists of reports and publications created by the Edmonton Social Planning Council (E.S.P.C.) and its various divisions and committees. The reports are designed to track trends, make predictions, and offer recommendations with regards to social issues. In addition, the reports provide information and opinions on various proposals, programs, or legislation. Social issues involved include day care, housing, poverty, sex work, privatization, rehabilitation, and more. The records contained within this series help demonstrate the E.S.P.C.’s role as a resource for social research. The library maintained by the E.S.P.C. was used by various other social organizations in the course of their own operations. The publications include "A Wealth of Voices" which documents the first fifty years of the E.S.P.C.'s history, including its formation.

Youth Services Division

This series consists of textual records pertaining to the Youth Services Division of the Edmonton Council of Community Services (currently Edmonton Social Planning Council). The series highlights the Division's work on welfare issues concerning children and youth in Edmonton beginning a year before its inception in 1955, to when it was absorbed into the Council in 1966. Some records pertain to the Council's continued work with youth after 1966. The series includes minutes, administrative records, correspondence with related organizations and persons, reports, bylaws, articles, clippings, directories and Council newsletters. The series also consists of records pertaining to the Division’s work in providing guidance, training courses, and hosting conferences related to child and youth welfare.

In 1985 the Edmonton Police Department Museum and Archives opened to the public. Located at Edmonton Police Headquarters, the museum was established to represent the history of law enforcement in Alberta. It was funded by Alberta Culture, the Alberta Museum Association and by private and corporate sponsors, and staffed by volunteers from the Police Department and a curator paid for by grants. By 1997 the museum had closed and the collection was absorbed by Edmonton Police Services.

The series consists of 7 pawn shop ledgers, one file of material found in the ledger of a second hand shop, and 3 photos of Alex Decoteau.

This series consists of records described with the following sub-series: GALA Civil Rights Committee; Alberta Human Rights Commission; Canadian Human Rights Commission; Civil Rights Case Files; Human Rights Policies; Issues; Political Party Positions; and Provincial/Canadian Legislation. Information is included on numerous issues around achieving equitable rights for Edmonton’s (and more broadly Alberta’s) gay community, and the series is extensive in the range of gay and lesbian civil and human rights detailed. The textual material includes correspondence, meeting documents, newsletters, briefs and prepared submissions and presentations, and many news clippings and published article references.

This series consists of GALA’s administrative records including their bylaws and constitution, financial statements, meeting minutes and correspondence. In addition, there are copies of GALA grant applications, and records related to a GALA sponsored Symposium entitled “Flaunting It!” held in Edmonton in 1990. The meeting minutes and documents of the GALA-Police Liaison Committee are retained in this series, although after 1994, the Committee broadens its title to the LGBTQ Community/Edmonton Police Service Liaison Committee, and committee records continue until 2005.

These records include negotiations with professional Edmonton sport teams, artists for creating public art, property developers and declaring several buildings Historic Resources, commercial developers and owners in developing the downtown pedway system, the lead up to hosting the Commonwealth Games, the construction and transfer of the downtown Royal Canadian Legion, the City's role in nuclear defense, and servicing land owned by developers.
