George K. Guild fonds

The fonds consists predominantly of records detailing George Guild’s life and business. It includes:

The fonds consists of material created or collected by Frederick Marshall, including records on McDougall Church, Rev. Rundle’s Mission in Alberta, patient newsletters from the Royal Alexandria Hospital, some promotional material for Edmonton and Fort Saskatchewan, and handwritten reminiscences by Frederick Marshall.

The photographs include several photos of Indigenous men, women and children, including Chief Full Moon, Chief Duck and Chief Hector Crawler, and a photograph of George T. Montgomery, Mayor of Fort Saskatchewan.

The fonds also includes books and periodicals: St. Paul’s United Church Edmonton (287.9 PAU 1956), Canadian Born and Other Western Verse (819 AND 1913), Mission Among the Buffalo: The Labours of the Reverends George M. and John C. McDougall in the Canadian Northwest 1860-1876 (266.71 NIX) and Moccasin Telegraph: Magazine for HBC Fur Traders (1949 December, 1951 Winter, 1952 December).

This fonds consists of materials created by the Sache and Christie families between 1890 and 1940. The records document the professional and personal lives of the members of the Sache and Christie families. Material includes correspondence, business papers, engineering papers, books, postcards, and blueprints. The first 43 files primarily concern the Sache family while the remaining files primarily concern the Christie family. The records contained in this fonds provide insight into how real estate and construction business was conducted in Edmonton's early history. In addition, these records showcase how very interconnected the prominent families of Edmonton's early history were.

The fonds consists of correspondence, bylaws, annual reports, clippings, financial and legal records of the Edmonton Stock Exchange. John A.L. McDougall Family fonds

The fonds consists of business and family records of John A.L. McDougall. The business records cover their land, lumber and coal business activities including sales made by the company, court actions regarding unpaid debts and lands they owned in the other parts of Alberta, specifically Keephills and Telfordville.

The family records include correspondence between family members (copied from the photographic postcards), medals and a souvenir pamphlet from the inauguration of Alberta, 1905.

The photographs include family members, friends, buildings and events in Edmonton, as well as lumber activities.

McLean & Company Hardware fonds

The fonds consists of day book receipts, cash books, stock lists, and account ledgers created during the operation of McLean & Company Hardware. Customer names and their purchases are collected in the day book receipts, with some customer accounts reflecting outstanding debits. An unused counter sales book has also been included with the records and bears custom printing with the McLean & Company Hardware name. The McLean & Company Current Ledger and Monthly Statements have been preserved in their original, custom bindings to reflect how the records were used and added to as needed.

The photographs include images of the McLean Family, the McLean house, landmarks around the McLean home, and of the hardware store. There are some notations on the backs of the images, though most are untitled.

The fonds consists of records from the Florists’ Transworld Delivery Association, Alberta Unit Region 11 District K from ca. 1940 to 1970. Records include correspondence, minutes, and finances. Also included in the fonds is a photograph of a florists’ picnic in Victoria Park, Edmonton.
