The series consists of photographs and correspondence relating to Richard David Secord, his wife Barba4a Delle Calhoun Secord, and their son Richard Calhoun Secord.

The photographs consist of Richard David Secord as a teenager and of Barbara Delle Calhoun on her wedding day to Richard D. Secord.

The textual records consist of a letter to their son, Richard C. Secord, from John G. Diefenbaker (Leader of the Opposition, 1967) with a copy of House of Commons debates, Jan. 11, 1967, commemorating birth of John A. Macdonald, and a mock newspaper, headlined “Richard C. Secord Returns to Winterburn Old Fashion Days” (most text reprinted from a 1917 issue of Calgary Eye Opener), [197?] (o/s folder).

The fonds consists of research materials collected or created by Gilda Rath. The records generally relates to three themes: excerpts from the Edmonton Bulletin 1880-1882, and the Saskatchewan Herald, 1879-1882; the story of the Lamoureux family from their origins in Quebec to their settlement in the Edmonton district; and translations of correspondence from the Oblate Archives relating to members of the order and to the history of the Edmonton area.
Also included is information on First Nations, Metis, steamboat transportation on the North Saskatchewan, and notes and excerpts from other sources. The research material appears to have been accumulated for a book on the history of French settlement in North America and the Canadian northwest, focusing on the Lamoureux family. A partial typescript of this work is included in the fonds. Some of the notes are transcripts from tape recordings, but the original tapes are not present.

This fonds consists of an original letter written in 1894 by John William Clutton to a friend in England, who had shipped a potato-tilling plough to Mr. Clutton. The letter recounts pioneer life and farming in the Beaumont area. It includes references to ‘Gough’, a young man whom Clutton had recruited from England for help and Sandy Lake.
There are also 2 typed transcripts of the original letter.

File 2: Programme - Royal Visit Pictorial Review - Commemorating The Alberta Visit of Their Majesties King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, 1939.

The photographs are of Isobel as a child, and young girl, as well as an album with photographs from her time working as a nurse in Cape Town, South Africa.

The series consists of Richard Henry Secord’s daily journals, including event and financial notes, 1891-1928 (incomplete), and account books relating to various business activities, 1890-1919 (incomplete), and correspondence and other documents relating to his life activities and involvements. Some daily journals contain entries written by Richard’s wife, Annie York Secord.
The books reflect his political activities and the photographs include Richard at various ages in his life, as well as reflect his various businesses and recreational interests.
