The fonds consists of records created and collected by the Edmonton Burns Club for their various events and activities.
The fonds has been arranged into 6 series:

  • Series 1 - Membership. This series consists of Edmonton Burns Club membership rosters and lists of Presidents. Also included are the Burns Club constitution as well as obituaries and funeral addresses for members of the Club.
  • Series 2 - Administration. This series consists of minutes and financial statements of the Club. The President's’ Books have also been included in the series.
  • Series 3 - Correspondence. This series consists of letters written in regards to the Club. The letter recipients have been named unless otherwise noted. Due to the nature of the scholarships awarded by the Burns Club, all material related to awards has been included here as well.
  • Series 4 - Events. All major Burns Club events have been listed in chronological order here for ease of access. Events held by other Burns Clubs have also been included.
  • Series 5 - Poetry, Music, and Reference Library. This series consists of the works collected and written by members of the Burns Club. The series includes poems, historical accounts, music sheets, articles, and books.
  • Series 6 - Media. Series 6 is comprised of scrapbooks, media, audio (reel to reel and cassette recordings), ephemera and photographs related to the Club and various events.

The fonds consists of two programmes from Northwest Professional Hockey League, 1933, featuring the 'Edmonton Eskimos' hockey team. One programme includes an article on Art Gagne’s ‘lucky number 7’.
The photographs include team photos of the Edmonton Eskimos hockey team 1920-21, the interior of the Edmonton Gardens [ca. 1922] and portraits of hockey players from the Eskimo Hockey Team 1920-21 (Art Gagne, Joe Simpson, Rollie Muirhead, P.A. 'Tim' Dunne, Howard Dea, Archie Briden, Gordone 'Duke' Keats, Ernie Anderson, Alec Renaud, and Kenny Mackenzie).

The fonds consists of records of James Taylor’s military career:

  • a notice of parade for the Winnipeg Rifles, 90th Regiment, “A” Company, 1900;
  • a Certificate of Discharge from the Winnipeg 90th Rifles, March 2, 1901;
  • a one-page hand written personal account of James W. Taylor's time in South Africa, 1901-1902 (includes place, date and notes).
  • 7 pages of typewritten accounts from James W. Taylor's diary in South Africa from February 24, 1902 to June 1, 1902; Certificate of Discharge from the South African Constabulary, February 21, 1903;
  • a pass from the South African Constabulary, 1903;
    The photographs are also from James Taylor’s military carrier and include Canadian troops in South Africa.

The fonds consists of programs and photographs of theatre and other cultural events, in many of which Richard and Inez MacDonald were part of the company, primarily as set designer and make-up artist, respectively. The records also include newspaper clippings, correspondence, and magazines relating to the life and career of Richard MacDonald and to the theatre and radio in Edmonton, notably the Edmonton Little Theatre and radio station CKUA.

The fonds consists of programmes for the school openings of L.Y. Cairns Vocation School and M.E. LaZerte Composite High School, and miscellaneous receipts in the name of Euclid N. Paradis, L’Amoureux, AB and Joseph Paradis, of St. Boniface, MB, and of Edmonton, AB.
The photographs include the ceremony for the Honourary Chief Factors of Fort Edmonton Park, 1974, honoring Christina McKnight, Richard Y. Secord and Merrill Wolf. There are also images of George as a young child to an adult and as Honorary Chief Factor at Fort Edmonton Park, hosting the Duke and Duchess of York.

Egge Family fonds

The fonds consists of a hand written history of the Egge family, including moving from Edmonton to Halfway Lake on the Athabasca Trail, possibly partly written by Les Egge (the text is in two handwritings).
Photographs include the Egge stopping house and other stopping houses on Athabasca Landing Trail, Egge farm, members of Egge extended family, freighters and other travellers, other individuals associated with the Athabasca Landing Trail district.
The records include references to Edith Benner, Clara Egge, Jessie Egge, Jack Flyn, Percy Hardisty, Albert Kennedy, Karl Kirstin, Jack Lord, Bill Reynolds, Mr. Strutton, Jack Sulley and Ed Williams.
