This series consists of documentation investigating Edmonton's Mayor and Councilors regarding compliance with the Municipalities Act. These investigations include the Porter Royal Commission into civic mismanagement especially in regards to property speculation and profiteering by William Hawrelak, the Morrow Inquiry into bribing councilors including Aldermen Fallow and McLean, the disqualification of Mayor Hawrelak for violating the City Act in 1965, and the Nuclear Disarmament Referendum quashed by Mayor Purves. This series also includes the report of the form of City Government which proposed switching Edmonton to its current ward based system.

This series consists of periodical publications produced by the Edmonton Social Planning Council (E.S.P.C.). First Reading was a newsletter publication that began in 1982 with the goal of informing members of the E.S.P.C. and the public about social policies under consideration by the government and the potential implications of such policies. The newsletter ran until 1998. Alberta Facts, which later became Edmonton Facts, was an insert in the First Reading newsletter. It later became an insert published four times a year in Vue Weekly, an alternative newspaper published in Edmonton.

Bylaws

This series consists of records documenting Law's involvement with Edmonton's bylaw process. It includes documents regarding Law's involvement in challenges of bylaws of historic significance, including the Lord's Day Act Bylaw allowing businesses to operate on Sundays, Carruthers Caveat restricting development in Glenora, dumping sewage into the North Saskatchewan river, the taxi bylaw and the change to taxis being solely functional via a dispatcher office, and the business license bylaw and how it applies to various types of massage clinics. The remainder of the series involves bylaws regarding the closure of roadways and alleyways for construction projects and parks including Keillor Road, and the funding of construction projects.

The series consists of engagements, complaints, speeches, correspondence, reports, and records relating to Mayors' conferences and public hearings, blank letterhead, and daily journals detailing the Mayor's meetings. It also includes a photo of the Centennial Mall Fountain (EA-353-12), four photos of a marigold glass dish presented to Queen Elizabeth II during her Commonwealth Games visit (EA-353-1 through EA-353-4).
