This series contains material relating to the Garneau Guardian which was a community newspaper published by the Garneau Community League from 1979 to 1984. The Guardian reported on many activities within the Garneau neighbourhood and particularly on the activities of the Community League itself. It was distributed to subscribers within the Garneau neighbourhood and sold advertising space to various businesses from across the city. The newspaper closed after the editor moved away and no suitable replacement could step up. The records include newspaper issues, draft articles, publication notes, financial statements, correspondence, and photographs.
Sans titreThis series contains photographs that were likely taken for the Garneau Guardian newspaper. Some of the images can be found in the issues of the newspaper. The photographs feature pictures of events and developments around the neighbourhood as well as activities and programs put on by the Community League.
Sans titreThis series consists of property reports, financial statements, correspondence, building plans, cash books, and certificates created during the operation of the Edmonton Norwood Temple Hall. While directly associated with the Norwood Temple Lodge No. 41, many other Lodges were engaged in renting the hall for their own events, as well as holding inter-Lodge ceremonies. These records also consist of minutes from board meetings comprised of individual representatives from the Lodges, though not held on the Encampment level.
This series consists of a set of service profiles and their priorities created by the United Community Fund of Greater Edmonton. The profiles document social problems and areas of concern while highlighting potential solutions and challenges involved. They define the problem and its significance, list objectives, provide a program, document the volume of services already provided, identify gaps and redundancies in service delivery, effectiveness of service, projection of needs, and identifying patterns of financing for the service. This series is significant as it demonstrates the forward thinking and research conducted by the Community Fund in addition to how the fund prioritized its work and financing. The first file in the series also provides context for the codes used in the service profiles.
