Fonds consists of minutes, reports, correspondence, invoices, clippings, scrapbooks, bylaws, contracts, minutes, and records relating to voter and census enumeration.

An order has been imposed on the material. The arrangement includes 15 series. The first 10 (RG-8.0 - RG-8.9) were processed in the 1970s and 1980s. Due to the size of the collection, the processing archivist decided to create a new division for each accession. From the 1990s onward the records were processed and arranged based on function, as reflected in RG-8.10 - RG-8.14.

RG-8.0: The Papers of the Edmonton Town/City Secretary (1892-1912). The records include outgoing and incoming correspondence from 1892 until the City of Edmonton's amalgamation with the Town Strathcona in 1912.

RG-8.1: Edmonton Financial Accounts (1892-1915). The records consist of four ledgers detailing the profits and expenditures of the Town/City of Edmonton, receipts, cash journals and other materials relating to the financial administration of the Town/City of Edmonton.

RG-8.2: Debenture (1897). The records consist of a single debenture issued by the Town of Edmonton payable to the order of the Bank of Hamilton.

RG-8.3: Office of the City Clerk (1891-1913). The records consist of a scrapbook, taxation records, legislation, building specifications and other materials.

RG-8.4: Election Scrapbooks (1918-1963). The records consist of scrapbooks compiled by the City Clerk's office relating to local elections and election procedures.

RG-8.5: Bylaws regarding Royal Visits (1939-1951). The records consist of bylaws relating to visits to Edmonton by members of the British Royal Family.

RG-8.6: Office of the City Clerk (1935-1972). The records contain correspondence, financial documents, election materials, personnel correspondence and other materials.

RG-8.7: Public Affairs Committee (1968-1973). The records consist of correspondence created by the Public Affairs Committee.

RG-8.8: Office of the City Clerk (1969-1974). The records consist of correspondence with the City Clerk concerning news media coverage of city affairs, public notices and university funding.

RG-8.9: Office of the City Clerk (1965-1973). The records consist of correspondence, reports, minutes and other materials related to the City of Edmonton's Finance and Budget Committee.

RG-8.10: Special Committee Reports of the City Clerk (1907-1966). The records consist of reports submitted by Special Committees appointed to study specific problems and issues.

RG-8.11: Civic Elections and Census Enumeration (1895-1974). The records consist of voter's lists, census documents, and other materials created by the Elections Office of the City of Edmonton.

RG-8.12: Bylaws (1892-2014). The records consist of repealed municipal bylaws.

RG-8.13: Contracts (1893-1989). The records consist of certified copies of municipal agreements for Edmonton and Strathcona with other parties.

RG-8.14: Minutes (1892-1991). The records consist of Council minutes.

Secord Family fonds

The fonds consists predominantly of textual records of Richard Henry and Annie York Secord, and their son Richard York Secord, and to a lesser extent Margaret Calder Secord (wife of Richard York), Isobel Secord, Lena Secord McFayden and Gene Secord Keltie (sisters of Richard York), and family of Richard David Secord (son of Richard York).

The photographs consist of family and friends, farming and business activities, events and street scenes of Edmonton.

Secord Family

William A. Griesbach fonds

The fonds consists of William Griesbach’s political, military, and personal papers, as well as numerous books from his personal library.

Political papers consist of reports, correspondence, contracts, and financial documents concerning the City of Edmonton and the City of Strathcona between 1892 and 1935. There is also a 1912 Edmonton Subdivision map (EAM-178).

Military papers include correspondence, clippings, programs, pamphlets and other materials related to Major-General Griesbach's military career, created between 1919 and ca.1943.

Personal papers include correspondence, financial documents, theatre programmes and other materials relating to Griesbach's personal activities and interests. It includes correspondence on the memorial window in the Cathedral Church of All Saints in Edmonton.

The books reflect the various aspects of Griesbach’s life, career, and interests covering military, political, diplomatic, economic, and historical topics. It should be noted that the books published after Griesbach’s death in 1945 were added by the Western Command HQ Library.

Bond Family fonds

The fonds consists of textual and photographic records of Margaret Bond, the Bond-Adams Company and Victor P. Bond.

The records for Margaret Joy Bond include personal correspondence, postcards, a scrapbook and certificate (1948-1966).

The records for the Bond-Adams Company include business correspondence and accounts books dealing with clients, companies, and land deals including the record of sale of Tofield Industrial and University Plateau, land speculation in Victoria, B.C. and documents for Walters vs Bond Adams. There are also insurance forms, pamphlets and advertisements (1910-1915).

The records for Victor P. Bond consist of an accounts book relating to an unknown business of Victor P. Bond, order forms for suits and accounts journals for Victor P. Bond’s tailoring business (1920-1922,1947-1958).

The photographs include images of farming, coal mining in Toefield, construction, construction, firefighting equipment and the offices of the Bond-Adams Company (ca. 1910-1912).

Bond Family

John A.L. McDougall Family fonds

The fonds consists of business and family records of John A.L. McDougall. The business records cover their land, lumber and coal business activities including sales made by the company, court actions regarding unpaid debts and lands they owned in the other parts of Alberta, specifically Keephills and Telfordville.

The family records include correspondence between family members (copied from the photographic postcards), medals and a souvenir pamphlet from the inauguration of Alberta, 1905.

The photographs include family members, friends, buildings and events in Edmonton, as well as lumber activities.
