The fonds consists of Edward Bell’s account of becoming a teacher and then principal of Bennett School, including teaching in the school’s temporary accommodations on the second floor of a house in 1912 while awaiting construction of the school building. The Bennett School moved into their new building on Gallagher flats in the spring of 1913.
The photograph is of the temporary classroom that was used before the Bennett School building was opened.
The fonds consists of pamphlets and textual material that John had collected on public art. The photographs cover places of worship, public art, bridges, public buildings, shopping centres, streetscapes and the demolition of several buildings in Edmonton and area.

Zonder titelThis series consists of a variety of records concerning projects the Edmonton Social Planning Council (E.S.P.C.) and its numerous committees were involved in or concerned with. The projects concern social issues such as the needs of the elderly, community services and development, child welfare and day care services, the Christmas Bureau, the development and support of cooperatives, community schools, services for people with physical disabilities, services for homeless people, women’s shelters, Indigenous and Metis welfare, poverty, rehabilitation, and more. In some cases the E.S.P.C. was the primary driving force behind a project while in other cases it provided support to other organizations’ projects. The types of records included in this series include minutes, correspondence, memorandums, reports, proposals, and studies. The records provide insight into the social issues the E.S.P.C. was concerned with as well as how it worked to address them. In addition, the records help paint a picture of how the E.S.P.C. and its role within the community changed over time.

The textual records include reports prepared by students enrolled in the Architecture Department in conjunction with the English Department and created in 1969. Each report contains technical and historical information on a different building of architectural significance in Edmonton. There are 28 reports in total and include commercial, educational, religious, public and industrial buildings.

There is also personal and business correspondence, including correspondence relating to the Secord family history, as well as research material, correspondence and manuscripts relating to the Richard Henry Secord biography and Richard York Secord memoirs.
The photographs and books reflect many aspects of Richard Y. Secord’s activities and interests.
