The collection consists of records donated by the Oblate Archives as the records better serve the mandate of the City of Edmonton Archives. It consists of photographs of early Edmonton, including Fort Edmonton, the North Saskatchewan River and John Walter’s Mill.
The collection consists of colourized photograph postcards of scenes of Edmonton including Jasper Avenue, Tegler Block, Alberta Hotel and Strathcona Bridge.
The fonds consists of accounting records from Fort Edmonton (1879-1884) and a daily journal from Fort Victoria, now Pakan (1890-1893). There are also records relating to a model-building contest of Fort Edmonton and copies of plans for Fort Edmonton (1970). Photographs include the official opening of Fort Edmonton Park (1967), the winning Fort Edmonton model and builder (1970), York boats and Red River carts.
The collection consists of personal items, photographs, stories, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings and memorabilia relating to the experiences of some Edmontonians in the Second World War. There are also two books – ‘The Royal Canadian Legion 1926-1986’ (369.271 ROY SWI 1986) and ‘Valour Remembered: Canada and the Second World War 1939-1945’ (940.540 GIE c. 2).
The collection consists of images taken by Frank Crevier as he passed through Edmonton on his ‘lifetime journey’. The photographs include buildings, street and river valley scenes including bridges.
The collection consists of a panorama photograph of the Shriner’s Picnic, 21 Jul 1921 held in Victoria Park, Edmonton. Note: this panorama has the same three people on both ends of the photograph.
