Edmonton Kennel Club fonds

The fonds consists of minutes, financial statements, newsletters, photographs, objects, moving images, and catalogues of events and dog shows the Edmonton Kennel Club held, and helped organize, throughout the twentieth century. The fonds also consists of commemorative material created to celebrate achievements of the Club’s members, such as for birthdays or anniversaries, in the form of scrapbooks and certificates. Also included are objects gathered by Edmonton Kennel Club members who performed judicial duties for dog shows hosted by the Edmonton Kennel Club, as well as for other organizations across the world.

The photographs of the fonds are images primarily taken of the Club’s dog shows with a smaller number of images drawn from the Club’s various social activities.

The fonds consists of a copy of "Courrier-Sud", Sept. 5, 1972, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the order's presence at Nicolet, Quebec, a copy of "Le Franco-Albertain”, Oct. 10, 1973, which contains an article on the Lamoureux family, and a dedication booklet of "La Congregation Des Souers de l'Assomption de la Sainte Vierge", 1974.
The photographs include Assumption Academy, convent and chapel at St. Joachim, Ecole Sacre Coure, Immaculate Conception church and rectory, and sisters with children at Hobbema.

The fonds consists of photocopied transcripts of letters and articles written by Ernest S. George and the certificate of membership of E.S. George to the Northern Alberta Pioneers and Old-Timers Association, Dec. 31, 1926. It also includes a photocopied transcript of an article by Barbara Mary George, Ernest George's mother. The photograph is a portrait of Ernest George, ca. 1962 that was used for an Edmonton Historical Board award in 1977.

The fonds also includes the Edmonton Branch membership rolls and membership certificates, along with minutes from a 1973 meeting of the Council of the Dickens Fellowship.

The fonds consists of records relating to Charlotte Daws’ track and field successes, including news clippings, programmes of track and field events (in some of which she competed), and a programme of the first British Empire Games, Hamilton, Ontario, Aug. 16-23, 1930.
The photographs include a portrait of Charlotte with trophies and medals, and photo of the Canadian Men’s Track & Field Team. Both photographs taken at the first British Empire Games, Hamilton, Ontario, Aug. 16-23, 1930. The objects include a British Empire Games pin, numerous track and field medals, and four commemorative Women's Amateur Athletic Association of Canada spoons.
