This series consists of records documenting Law's involvement with Edmonton's bylaw process. It includes documents regarding Law's involvement in challenges of bylaws of historic significance, including the Lord's Day Act Bylaw allowing businesses to operate on Sundays, Carruthers Caveat restricting development in Glenora, dumping sewage into the North Saskatchewan river, the taxi bylaw and the change to taxis being solely functional via a dispatcher office, and the business license bylaw and how it applies to various types of massage clinics. The remainder of the series involves bylaws regarding the closure of roadways and alleyways for construction projects and parks including Keillor Road, and the funding of construction projects.

The main legislative tool available to the Town of Jasper Place was the creation of bylaws. The municipality issued bylaws from it's incorporation as a Village in January 1950 until its amalgamation with the City of Edmonton in 1964.

Bylaws Committee Reports

This series contains reports from the Bylaws Committee. The Bylaws & Legislation Committee held their first meeting September 7, 1921. The name was changed in 1928 to the Bylaws Committee.

In 1965 Council requested that the City Commissioners look into the continued need of the Bylaws and Finance Committees. Council accepted their recommendation that a Committee of the Whole be struck to handle the issues previously dealt with by those two committees. The final meeting of the Bylaws Committee occurred April 11, 1965.

The series consists of Byron-May Company photographs from the Byron-May album. Many were part of their business, including images commissioned by the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce. The photographs include buildings, sports events, agriculture, exhibitions, street and river valley scenes, and military personnel. At the time, these photographs were used to promote Edmonton as an up-and-coming city.

Other commissioned photographs, such as family or home portraits, show not only the growth of the Byron-May Co. and the booming prosperity of Edmontonians at the time, but also reflect the increasing popularity of photography in the early twentieth century.

This series consists of minutes, annual reports, the constitution, and bylaws of the Canton Edmonton No. 1 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Also known as the Patriarch’s Militant Level, The Canton is the highest level of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows open to those members who have obtained the Royal Purple Degree.
