The collection consists of materials collected about Donald Whitford between 1992 and 1995. The fonds consists of excerpts from the diaries of Donald Whitford, a family tree of Mr. Whitford, and correspondence about Mr. Whitford and relates to his life as a surveyor, trapper and settler in Western Canada in the mid to late 1800s.
Whitford, DonaldFonds reflects the evolution of the Community and Family Services Department and the responsibilities it was tasked with during its existence. The textual records consist of: annual reports, statistics, financial statements, correspondence, policy statements, newsletters, minutes, photographs, forms, mission statements, lists of citizens, and other material. The original record order as found in 2016 has been retained, though an intellectual arrangement has been provided in the finding aid.
Community and Family Services DepartmentThe fonds consists of correspondence and interviews relating to the research for her historical novel, 'Fortress North'. It also includes a manuscript for the book and her ink and watercolour illustrations for each chapter, a series of historical paintings of Edmonton and area, records relating to her work for the City of Edmonton Archives and Landmarks Committee, and miscellaneous correspondence, sketches, and notes.
The photographs include various Edmonton scenes, the Walker family and friends as well as photographs of her paintings and woodcut prints of images used for her book.
The artwork includes her original paintings and two sculptures.
The collection consists of personal items, photographs, stories, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings and memorabilia relating to the experiences of some Edmontonians in the Second World War. There are also two books – ‘The Royal Canadian Legion 1926-1986’ (369.271 ROY SWI 1986) and ‘Valour Remembered: Canada and the Second World War 1939-1945’ (940.540 GIE c. 2).
Edmonton Remembers VE DayThe fonds consists of panorama photographs of banquets of local associations, including the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire, Independent Order of Foresters and Northern Alberta Pioneers & Old Timers Association Banquet. There is also a panorama photograph of the Westlawn Bowling Club.
It is likely Nora’s parents were members of these associations.

Glen, William A.The fonds of materials created or collected by Edna Kells, including fiction and non-fiction manuscripts as well as notes and clippings pertaining to these manuscripts. There are numerous short manuscripts and two book size manuscripts; one a source book of early Alberta history and one entitled "Those Wonderful McDougall Women". Most of the material deals with the pioneer history of Alberta.
Kells, EdnaThe fonds consists of research materials collected or created by Gilda Rath. The records generally relates to three themes: excerpts from the Edmonton Bulletin 1880-1882, and the Saskatchewan Herald, 1879-1882; the story of the Lamoureux family from their origins in Quebec to their settlement in the Edmonton district; and translations of correspondence from the Oblate Archives relating to members of the order and to the history of the Edmonton area.
Also included is information on First Nations, Metis, steamboat transportation on the North Saskatchewan, and notes and excerpts from other sources. The research material appears to have been accumulated for a book on the history of French settlement in North America and the Canadian northwest, focusing on the Lamoureux family. A partial typescript of this work is included in the fonds. Some of the notes are transcripts from tape recordings, but the original tapes are not present.
