This fonds consists of the administrative records of the Jazz City Festival Society, including year-end financial statements, grant applications, venue and musician contracts, musician immigration and payment records, sponsorship correspondence and contracts, volunteer reports, and many festival planning documents. Additionally, this fonds contains press coverage from Jazz City, Jazz City programs, and several records relating to the promotion of Jazz City including t-shirts, posters, pins, and felt patches. Also included are photographs of artists and the festival, as well as VHS tapes with interviews and advertisements for Jazz City.

The fonds consists of materials created or collected by Hazel McCuaig. It includes correspondence, a scrapbook collection containing news clippings on members of the Northern Alberta Pioneers' and Old Timers' Association and other prominent people and places in Alberta's history, brochures and programs relating to historical groups and cultural events in Edmonton and Strathcona. The photographs include the Rutherford home, Edmonton and district buildings, events, family members and friends as well as a military panorama (EA-82, EA-10-353, EA-10-2251). There are also maps and books on Edmonton, and a watercolour painting of McKay Avenue School.

Thelma Manary (1913-1984) was an Edmonton-based artist known for her miniature etchings and large semi-abstract landscapes (working in oil, watercolour, and mixed media). She was a member of the Edmonton Art Club, the Alberta Society of Artists, and was an associated member of the Society of Canadian Printers-Etchers and Engravers. She served on the board of the Edmonton Art Club, and worked at the Edmonton Art Gallery for many years.
Manary had a particular interest in trees, especially the barrenness of winter trees. This painting was submitted to the Edmonton Art Club show in 1961, and was featured on the cover of the catalogue for that year.

Robert Wesley Hedley (1871-1965) was born in Ontario and taught at a rural school before earning a high school teacher’s certificate in mathematics. He moved to Edmonton in 1912, where he became the art supervisor of public schools. In 1922 he developed the art course for Alberta high schools and taught art in summer sessions at the University of Alberta. He was hired as a mathematics and art teacher at the Edmonton Normal School in 1929, and retired in 1937. He continued working in the arts, and became Director of the Edmonton Museum of Art in 1943. He was also the art critic for the Edmonton Journal for many years.

This work, created by Alexander Fraser, previously hung in the Mayor’s Office, before being transferred to the City of Edmonton Archives in 1983. Alexander Fraser (1827-1899), also known as Alexander Fraser the Younger, was a Scottish landscape painter.

This is an architectural rendering of Centennial Plaza, located south of the Stanley Milner Library. It was done by Dale Lewis, a graphic designer for the Planning and Building Department.

George Brindley (1913-1974) joined the Edmonton Art Club in 1942. He submitted a number of oil paintings to club exhibitions between 1949 and 1953, and was a member of the club’s Executive Committee.

Ruth Gaynor Haley joined the Edmonton Art Club in 1942, and participated in numerous Art Club exhibitions between 1942 and 1954. A member of the Alberta Society of Artists, Ruth Haley worked in numerous artistic media, including oil, watercolour, egg tempera, and casein. She passed away April 12, 1959 and was buried at Westlawn Cemetery.
