Fait partie de City of Edmonton. Office of the City Clerk fonds

This series contains minutes from various Council Committees. Much of City Council's business was conducted through these Committees, which then reported to Council. Many specially appointed committees existed, as well as two standing committees: the Bylaws Committee (1922-1965) and Finance Committee (1914-1965).

In an attempt to streamline meetings, in 1965 the Committee of the Whole was established, replacing the Bylaws and Finance Committees. The Committee of the Whole met prior to Council meetings to listen to delegations and consider matters, and bring forward recommendations to the regular Council meeting.

Some of the records including, newsletters, programs and bulletins, relate to external organizations, at local, provincial, national and international levels. These records provide context for the E.P.S.C's work and interactions with these external organizations.

The series also includes records pertaining to the United Community Fund of Greater Edmonton (formerly Community Chest) which merged with the E.P.S.C. in 1953 and early correspondence with Charlotte Whitton, who founded the Canadian Council on Child Welfare in 1920.

Lawn Bowling Club
CA EDM MS-404-6 · Série · 1956 - 1983
Fait partie de Garneau Community League fonds

This series contains materials concerning the operations and functions of the Garneau Lawn Bowling Club. The club was officially founded in 1955. The Lawn Bowling Club was one of the five original committees when the Garneau Community League was incorporated in 1962. The Lawn Bowling Club, like the Tennis Club, held a degree of independence from the Community League until the late 1970s due to a change in Provincial Law regarding the way financial reporting was to be conducted. The Club was divided into two clubs: Men’s Lawn Bowling and Ladies Lawn Bowling. The Men’s Lawn Bowling Club concluded operations in 1983 while the Ladies Lawn Bowling Club continued. The reason for the closure of the men's club was dwindling membership due to the construction of superior lawn bowling greens at the Commonwealth Lawn Bowling Club following the 1978 Commonwealth Games. The rest of the lawn bowling club ended in 1990 due to insufficient funds to maintain the greens. Some of the remaining club members joined the Royal Lawn Bowling Club. When Catalyst Theatre began its lease of the Community Centre, the greens were converted into sand volleyball courts. This series consists of financial statements, a ledger, correspondence, club minutes, photographs, badges, pins, and a championship flag.
