Hudson's Bay Company collection

The fonds consists of accounting records from Fort Edmonton (1879-1884) and a daily journal from Fort Victoria, now Pakan (1890-1893). There are also records relating to a model-building contest of Fort Edmonton and copies of plans for Fort Edmonton (1970).
Photographs include the official opening of Fort Edmonton Park (1967), the winning Fort Edmonton model and builder (1970), York boats and Red River carts.

This fonds contains documents relating to the dismantling and demolition of the Alberta Hotel, which occupied the northeast corner of Jasper Avenue and 98th Street from 1903 to 1984. The fonds also contains a reconstruction document. Because part of the reconstruction documentation consisted of three binders of photographs, those binders have been photocopied for the fonds. The photocopied binders are cross referenced to the EA collection. The fonds also contains a set of architectural drawings.

The fonds consists of material created or collected by Frederick Marshall, including records on McDougall Church, Rev. Rundle’s Mission in Alberta, patient newsletters from the Royal Alexandria Hospital, some promotional material for Edmonton and Fort Saskatchewan, and handwritten reminiscences by Frederick Marshall.

The photographs include several photos of Indigenous men, women and children, including Chief Full Moon, Chief Duck and Chief Hector Crawler, and a photograph of George T. Montgomery, Mayor of Fort Saskatchewan.

The fonds also includes books and periodicals: St. Paul’s United Church Edmonton (287.9 PAU 1956), Canadian Born and Other Western Verse (819 AND 1913), Mission Among the Buffalo: The Labours of the Reverends George M. and John C. The fonds (or collection) consists of David Leonard’s research, notes and final manuscript of the book on Richard Secord, ‘A Builder of the Northwest: The Life and Times of Richard Secord’ (1981).
The photographs include a photo of the members of the 1886 N.W.T. Legislature and a portrait photograph of David Leonard that was used for an Edmonton Historical Board Award in 1989.
