The J.Y. Griffin Company was a branch of the Swift firm of Chicago. The Griffin's Packing Plant, later known as Swift's, opened on September 13, 1908. The packing plant was later bought by Gainer's Packing Plant in 1980. The packing plant closed in 1997.
