This item consists of the thematic finding aid compiling records regarding Sheet Music. Many people collected sheet music for their own pleasure and to assist them to entertain others. Many Archives accept such collections because it helps researchers tell the stories of a community's cultural influences, social activities and attitudes. Many of the items themselves are aesthetic works as well as they contain examples of contemporary art on their covers. This Finding Aid will also allow those seeking specific titles of musical pieces to see if they are held in the City of Edmonton collections in one central resource.
File 1: Contains pins were given to employees according to years of service. This file contains pins for 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years of service, as well as examples of pins yet to be engraved.
From the 1950s through to the 1970s it was not unusual for City departments to keep scrapbooks as a record of their activities. This series contains 34 scrapbooks of newspaper clippings relating to the business of the City of Edmonton, and specifically the Planning Department.
This series contains a single scrapbook created as a means of recording the activities of the department. This scrapbook includes information on tree removal, mosquito plague, swimming pools, swimming lessons, White Mud Creek development, new golf course, Recreation and Parks units proposed amalgamation, new zoo proposal, tree planting, new seats at Clarke Stadium, Laurier Park development (Zoo), Parks and Recreation Convention activities, new City Hall, Mill Creek Pool, baseball, swimming regatta, Eskimos welcome home parade, Edmonton amalgamation with surrounding areas, Mill Creek Road proposal and oppositions, Al Oeming, City rinks, Borden Park, soap box derby, tennis, football, hockey, and boxing.
The collection consists of tax notes and receipts from 1900 to 1902 sent to Daniel Brown of Regina, Saskatchewan for land owned in the City of Edmonton.
