Sin títuloThis series consists of records related to the proposed privatization of ED Tel in 1994. The records include correspondence, a memorandum, presentations, proposals, and notes relating to different options. The material was used by Allan Bolstad in his capacity as a City Councillor.
The Edmonton Telephones Corporation (ED Tel) was created in 1990 as a result of the provincial Telecommunications Act, which allowed municipalities to provide telecommunications services and products through a wholly-owned subsidiary corporation, but not through a City department. In early 1994 the outgoing ED Tel President publicly raised the idea of selling the utility. Ultimately the Edmonton Telephones Corporation was sold to Telus on March 10, 1995 for $470,221,872.

This series contains annual reports from the Power Plant Department, the Water Supply and Purification Plant, Edmonton Generation and Water Treatment, Edmonton Power, Water and Sanitation, and Environmental Services. It also contains power supply reports, statistical reports, feasibility studies, and reports about the Rossdale Power Plant. There are also a number of reports from the Edmonton Power Library which were created by other areas, including the Auditor General, Central Supply and Services, Corporate Policy Planning, edmonton telephones, Engineering, Finance, the Fiscal Policy Management Committee, the Office of the City Clerk, Planning, Real Estate and Supply Services, and Transportation.
This series consists of reports and publications not produced by the Edmonton Social Planning Council (E.S.P.C.) or any of its divisions or committees. In its role as a research organization, the Edmonton Social Planning Council maintained an extensive library of records for use in social research. The E.S.P.C. would provide individual members and member organizations with access to these materials. Materials include reports published by both government and non-governmental organizations.
