The fonds consists of political papers relating to Dr. Roper's tenure as Mayor of Edmonton from 1959 to 1963.
The photographs are from an album, presented to Elmer Roper by Chief Constable M.F.C. Anthony, commemorating the official opening of Police Headquarters Building, October 16, 1962.
The textual material was arranged as follows:

  • Speeches, includes proclamations, briefings and other statements.
  • General Correspondence, containing invitations and acknowledgements; complaints and compliments, and general commentaries on civic business; also includes files created by his immediate predecessors as mayor, William Hawrelak, mayor until his resignation in September 1959 and F.J. There are also books in algebra, geometry, mechanics and mechanical drawing from the American School of Correspondence, likely used by Bliss Smith for correspondence courses as well as a garden seed and nursery catalogue:
The photographs are of Richard and Fanny Ottewell and their children, including Richard and Fanny Ottewell on their 50th wedding anniversary (1927), as well as the Clover Bar School.

The fonds consists of material created or collected by Frederick Marshall, including records on McDougall Church, Rev. Rundle’s Mission in Alberta, patient newsletters from the Royal Alexandria Hospital, some promotional material for Edmonton and Fort Saskatchewan, and handwritten reminiscences by Frederick Marshall.

The photographs include several photos of Indigenous men, women and children, including Chief Full Moon, Chief Duck and Chief Hector Crawler, and a photograph of George T. Montgomery, Mayor of Fort Saskatchewan.

The fonds also includes books and periodicals: St. Paul’s United Church Edmonton (287.9 PAU 1956), Canadian Born and Other Western Verse (819 AND 1913), Mission Among the Buffalo: The Labours of the Reverends George M. and John C. This fonds consists of an oversize decorated marriage certificate with photographs for Lester Hadley, White Whale [Wabamun] Lake AB and Georgina Maria Riley, Filmore SK, June 27, 1907. The marriage occurred at Edmonton AB, officiated by J.H. Riddell, Principal, Alberta College. The photographs are portraits of Lester Hadley and Georgina Riley.

Gerald M. Hutchinson fonds

This fonds consists of notes and articles prepared by G.M. Hutchinson relating to the work of Robert Rundle, who was one of a small group of missionaries who were sent to Canada by the Wesleyans (Methodists) in England in 1840. Rundle was the first Protestant missionary to reach the area which is now Alberta. His first headquarters was Fort Edmonton from where he traveled as far as Rocky Mountain House, the Bow River near the future site of Banff, and Beaver Lake. Shortly before he left Canada in 1848 he established a mission at Pigeon Lake, now known as the Rundle Mission.
The material was used in research for Rundle House at Fort Edmonton Park.
The fonds also includes a photograph of Rev. Robert Rundle and his bride, Mary Wolverson.

The collection consists of two group portrait photographs of students and teachers at the Edmonton High School. The school was located on 108th Avenue between 101 and 104 Streets and later became known as Victoria High School.
One photo is of the Executive of the High School Literary Society which was a school club interested in literature and debating and also published a newsletter, The High School Topics.
Robert H. Johnston is in both photographs.
