The fonds consists of the records from the Edmonton Social Planning Council (E.S.P.C.) from its inception to the early 1990s. The records within the fonds capture the changing activities and functions of the Council throughout its history and its work in social welfare. The records include correspondence, administrative records, reports, studies, minutes, newsletters, publications, financial records, directories, manuals, bylaws, clippings, memorandums and briefs. Also included in the fonds are photographs of an annual meeting and housing in Edmonton.

The fonds provides insight into the history of social welfare in Edmonton and covers a variety of social issues including healthcare, childcare, education, poverty, housing, transportation, disabilities, reproductive rights, legal rights, immigration, Indigenous and Metis people, youth and addiction.

The fonds consists of materials created or collected by Roderick Cook of Edmonton and dating from 1912 to 1969. The fonds consists of programmes from concerts and theatrical presentations including 1912 commencement exercises of the Edmonton Public Schools, the Edmonton Symphony, the Little Theatre, the Empire Theatre, the Edmonton Civic Opera Company, the Edmonton Philharmonic Orchestra, Sunday Musical Series at the Jasper Park Lodge, and air force and navy revues among others collected by Roderick Cook.

The fonds consists of materials created or collected by the Edmonton Teachers' Wives Association between 1954 and 1961. The fonds consists of scrapbooks, minute books and the President's book.

The fonds consists of programs and brochures relating to the opening of Grace Martin School, as well as a biographical sketch of Grace Martin McEachern.
The photographs include the Martin farm where Grace grew up, Strathcona teachers including David McEachern and the Strathcona fire brigade.

The collection consists of materials collected by Evelyn McEachern and created between 1920 and 1944. The collection consists of a songbook and photograph album from Alberta College (1920) and souvenirs of the Edmonton Grads Basketball team. The fonds consists of materials created or collected by Edith Sparks of Edmonton and dating from 1886 to 1981. The fonds consists of miscellaneous notes on Edmonton, Strathcona, Edmonton hotels, schools (especially Norwood), clippings from the Bulletin (or transcriptions of) concerning Community Leagues, the Dickens Fellowship and the International Order of Daughters of the Empire in Edmonton, a history of the Mounted Police, a biography of Mary Harvey Hilton, Royal Canadian Air Force badges and buttons, coupon book, Demolay programs and "the Alberta Story".
