The collection consists of original material removed from the City of Edmonton Archives Clippings collection as well as records found within the collections that either lack clear provenance or exist as discreet items.
Zonder titelThis series includes certified copies of agreement between the corporation of Edmonton and various other parties. This series also includes agreements made by the Town of Strathcona between 1899 and 1909.
This series contains ledgers describing land purchased and owned by the City of Edmonton and used for conducting the business of the municipality, as well as certificates of ownership and duplicate certificates of title for select municipal properties.
The fonds consists of personal papers of Nicholas Beck, including:
- 8 pages of Beck's account with John Cameron General Wholesale and Retail, from 9 Feb 1893 to 1 Aug1894 (itemized list with the prices each item)
- 2 pages of Beck's account with John Cameron General Wholesale and Retail for August & September 1894 (itemized list with the prices each item);
- 2 cancelled cheques, Imperial Bank of Canada, 1906;
- employment contract between the Town of Edmonton and Nicholas Beck, as Solicitor and Advocate for the Town of Edmonton, dated 28 Feb 1900.
This subseries consists of the original ledgers used to record information regarding Civic Elections and Census Enumeration throughout the City of Edmonton's polling districts. Each ledger corresponds to one polling district within the City and were carried by City staff to each address in the district to record information regarding the occupants. The ledgers from 1945 onwards include name, address, if they are a British subject, if they own property, their section of either Protestant of Catholic for school taxes, their marital status, the name of their employer, the number of people in the residence under the age of 21 and their gender, and the type of dwelling in which they reside.
This series contains minutes from various Council Committees. Much of City Council's business was conducted through these Committees, which then reported to Council. Many specially appointed committees existed, as well as two standing committees: the Bylaws Committee (1922-1965) and Finance Committee (1914-1965).
In an attempt to streamline meetings, in 1965 the Committee of the Whole was established, replacing the Bylaws and Finance Committees. The Committee of the Whole met prior to Council meetings to listen to delegations and consider matters, and bring forward recommendations to the regular Council meeting.
This series consists of the records created by the Office of the City Clerk relating to local elections. The material has been arranged into the following subseries:

This fonds consists of personal papers of John J. Duggan as well as some records for the Town/City of Strathcona, including Duggan’s mayoral candidacy.
The photographs are predominantly of the activities of the Old Timers’ association but there is also one of the first hand car into Edmonton.
This series contains the council minutes for the Town of Strathcona and the City of Strathcona.
