The fonds consists of photographs and photo postcards of the flood of the North Saskatchewan River on 29 Jun 1915. As Thomas Walker was a city official at the time of the flood, it potentially explains how the photographer gained such access to the bridge/flood site in order to take the photographs. It is possible the records were later used in a display on the flood.
The fonds consists of photographs including the Grave’s house at 295 – 105 St., where Maria Scragg and John Stirling were married in 1907, the home of Maria and John Roxburgh, and the Chisholm Block fire. The fonds also includes two books, ‘The George McDougall Museum and Shrine: The Little Church at the City’s Heart’ (287.9 MCD 1946), and ‘Rundle in Alberta 1840-1848’ (922.77 RUN).
The fonds consists of one photograph of the 1st Depot Battalion (Alberta). Depot Battalions were created in central locations across Canada to handle the training of the final allotments of recruits. The recruits received minimal training at the Depot Battalions and were then sent to reserve battalions in England where they received the rest of their training. The 1st Depot Battalion was formed in 1917 and 1918 to provide reinforcements for the 10th, 31st, 49th and 50th Battalions through the 21st Canadian Reserve Battalion. It is possible an ancestor or relative of Audrey Bourget is in the photo but this is not confirmed.
The fonds consists of a panorama photograph of the 3rd Canadian Mounted Rifles, ‘C’ Squadron from Edmonton. The 3rd Canadian Mounted Rifles was organized in December 1914 under the command of Lieut.-Col. F.O. Sissons and mobilized at Edmonton and Medicine Hat. The troops left Montreal in June 1914 aboard The Megantic and arrived in England in June 1915. By September the troops were in France. In January 1916 the troops were absorbed by the 1st and 2nd Battalions, Canadian Mounted Rifles. They were disbanded in December 1917. There are no Dale’s listed in the 3rd Canadian Mounted Rifles Nominal Roll. However, ‘Cruikshank’ is written on the back of the photo and Charles Cruikshank is listed in the nominal roll as the next of kin for Private David Ritchie Richardson of Edmonton, AB.
The fonds consists of photos taken by Eric Bland for the Edmonton Bulletin in the last five years of the Bulletin’s existence (April 1947-January 1951) (EA-600). The photos include Edmonton personalities, accidents, events, clubs and societies, buildings (including churches, schools and hospitals), commerce, industry, transportation and military. The fonds also includes images used in the publication 'Edmonton Bulletin Special Edition 1911' (EB-26). This publication gave a history of Edmonton to that point. The photographs include people, houses, buildings businesses, street scenes, bridges and transportation.
The fonds consists of materials collected, researched and created by the Mill Creek Build A Park committee in their efforts, activities and projects to protect, preserve and advocate for the Mill Creek ravine. It includes their research sources, documents and historical notes about the ravine and partners in the projects. Their projects include: the Mill Creek Crusade; Endangered Homes Project; “Mill Crick” and “Everybody’s Mill Creek” story approaches to the social history of Mill Creek ravine; “The Mill Creek Story”, formerly a series of 5 binders with slide/audio presentation for the purpose of developing environmental education in Mill Creek schools; and “It Really Works!”, a model for social action in environmental education in the classroom.
This fonds consists of the records of the EFCL and is arranged in the following series:
Series 1 - Administration. This series consists of the operating records of the EFCL offices including minutes, agendas, financial information, correspondence, reports, contracts, and fundraising from 1922 to 2005 with most of the records dating from 1970 to 1980.
Series 2 - Community Leagues. This series contains records collected by the EFCL regarding their constituent community leagues. The records collected from each community league differ but generally include leases, membership information, and correspondence. The records in this series are predominantly from the period between 1965 to 1980.
Series 3 - Committees. This series consists of the files from the committees the EFCL either led or was a part of from 1971 to 1999. Other material has been added where the EFCL gathered the files for information purposes.
Series 4 - Programs. This series collects programs, events, and awards ceremonies held by the EFCL from 1920 to 1999 with a majority of the records originating from between 1970 to 1990.
Series 5 - Legal. This series collects documents pertaining to legal matters the EFCL was directly involved in as a litigant or on the behalf of the communities involved in the case. Most material pertains to the Rossdale Unit 11 case or to Inland Cement’s change in fuel types.
