The series consists of records outlining the Edmonton Social Planning Council and the United Community Fund of Greater Edmonton interactions and work with the Canadian Welfare Council. The series includes correspondence, reports, memorandums, minutes, papers, clippings, statements and recommendations. The series also includes records pertaining to the Canadian Conference on Housing and Community Funds and Councils of Canada conference.

The series consists of Richard Henry Secord’s daily journals, including event and financial notes, 1891-1928 (incomplete), and account books relating to various business activities, 1890-1919 (incomplete), and correspondence and other documents relating to his life activities and involvements. Some daily journals contain entries written by Richard’s wife, Annie York Secord.

The business records are for Matthew McCauley’s butcher shop and cartage businesses. The ledgers list the daily transactions or general accounts of the businesses, which include the names of many (now well known) Edmonton families and the costs of the material, product or service provided (ex: hay, meat, livery, hauling and cartage).

The photographs include the first train across the North Saskatchewan River, Matthew’s children, and the First Presbyterian Church Choir.

The series consists of records of Alexander J.H. McCauley, predominantly musical programmes, many of which list him as the pianist or accompanist. The other programmes where he is not listed, it is presumed these were concerts or performances that Alexander attended.

The series also includes a musical biography of Alexander’s son, William A. McCauley.

The series consists of narratives and records on the history of the Julia McCauley Norquay family, including a poem written by Marjorie van de Sande. There are also records and photographs of the Elizabeth Norquay and Bernard Aylen family.

The series consists of textual records and photographs predominantly pertaining to Harold and Winnifred Ross, and to a lesser extent their daughter Jeane. The textual records includes postcards written from Winnie to some of her family and from Harold to Winnie shortly before they were married. Some photographs include other family members of the Ross and Thompson families. The records reflect Harold and Winnie’s life from coming west as young single adults, becoming a family in Edmonton before Harold went off to war, and Winnie’s later life on the farm in Millet.

The series consists of Hector’s diaries, documenting his daily life of farming, as well as family and community events. Hector wrote in the diaries every day from 1 Jan 1936 to 11 Jul 1967. The records also include some invoices, receipts, and correspondence.

There is also personal and business correspondence, including correspondence relating to the Secord family history, as well as research material, correspondence and manuscripts relating to the Richard Henry Secord biography and Richard York Secord memoirs.

The photographs and books reflect many aspects of Richard Y. Secord’s activities and interests.
