The first St. Barbara's Russian Orthodox Church in Edmonton was a two-storied house consecrated on this site by Reverend James Korchinsky and Reverend Michael Skibinsky on May 18, 1902. Over sixty people attended this service. It was replaced by a wooden structure in 1908 and consecrated by Archmandrite Arseny. It was used until 1958, when the present building was completed to become St. Barbara's Russian Orthodox Cathedral on August 8, 1959.

This sub-series contains records created in the planning and operation of the Storyland Valley Zoo. The material includes correspondence as well as records relating to administration, strategic planning, facility and exhibit development, animal acquisition and care, programming, finances, personnel, external organizations, and media coverage.

The sub-series includes photographs of animals and zoo facilities around 1970 (EA-20-623 to EA-20-633), as well as postcards of Edmonton and photos of Fort Edmonton Park (EA-20-635 to EA-20-641), and historic photographs of the construction of the High Level Bridge, Fort Edmonton, the Legislature, and the Edmonton Ski Club (EA-20-642 to EA-20-645). The subseries also includes a set of postcards depicting the Valley Zoo from ca. 1970 (EA-20-5471 to EA-20-5500).

This series consists of records relating to the erection, operation and maintenance of sports, athletic, recreation and leisure facilities, pools and arenas. It contains records relating to organizations and facilities providing sports and recreation opportunities, including special events (like the Universiade Games in 1983) and festivals, for the citizens of Edmonton. It includes specialty and educational attractions such as the zoos, Fort Edmonton Park, John Janzen Nature Centre, the Queen Elizabeth Planetarium, the Edmonton Science Centre, and the Muttart Conservatory, and includes the programming aspects of animating those facilities.

Cross Residence at 12729 Stony Plain Road, the McCauley House at 10042 92 Street, general shots of Riverdale and the Edmonton skyline, and an interior photo of the Ukrainian Bookstore.

This series consists of photographs documenting the work of the Parks and Recreation Department. Photos numbered EA-20 include images of civic properties, leisure programs, special events, sports, green spaces such as boulevards and parks, and City staff. It also includes a photographic inventory of several thousand images of schools, community halls, playgrounds, pools, parks, and facilities from around 1968. Photos numbered ET-28 were created as a slide library to be used by staff in presentations.
