The Ford Tri-Motor Airplane NC 418H. The Ford Motor Company sponsored the 1930 Ford Reliability Tour which flew this plane across the prairies. After a stop in Brandon, Manitoba on 15 Sep 1930, the plane arrived in Edmonton for a major air show held on 17 Sep 1930 at the Edmonton air field (Blatchford Field). The Edmonton airport had just opened in 1927 and this air show, with over 200 planes on view, was a significant push in promoting air travel and aeronautics industry in Edmonton. James McCrie Douglas was mayor of Edmonton at the time and was significantly involved in the air show. There are three civic officials standing in front of the plane, James McCrie Douglas, Kenny Blatchford, and unknown. The Prince of Wales Armouries can be seen in the distance, on the right of the photo.

The fonds consists of momentoes relating to events held during the coronation of King George V and Queen Mary in 1911. These include invitations, programmes, passes and cards, and most are inscribed with J.M. Douglas’s name.
The photographs include personal photos of J.M. Douglas, including a photo of his father in front of the J.M. Douglas house in Strathcona.
