Biographical history

Harold Edgar Rudder was born 12 May 1904 to Charlotte and William Edward Rudder in Aberdeen, Scotland. In 1912, Harold, with his parents and sister Edith, immigrated to Canada. The family settled in Strathcona with Harold’s father opening a grocery store.

In 1934 the entire Rudder family moved to Vancouver, British Columbia. Harold first worked for United Manufacturing & Grain, later becoming a salesman for State Farm Insurance.

Harold married Margaret Dunn Laing in 1938.

Harold Edgar Rudder died 23 Sep 1969 in Vancouver.

Custodial history

As the material predates Harold Rudder, it is not known how he acquired the records.
Margaret Rudder was the wife of Harold Edgar Rudder.

Scope and content

The collection consists of two copies of the Edmonton Bulletin newspaper collected by Harold.
