Biographical history

Eliza Victoria McDougall was born on 14 Aug 1849 to Elizabeth Chantler and Rev. George Millward McDougall. Eliza married Richard Hardisty, Chief Factor of the Hudson’s Bay Company at Fort Edmonton, on 20 Sep 1866. Eliza and Richard had three children - Clara Victoria, Richard George and William David.
Eliza Victoria McDougall Hardisty died in 1929.

Custodial history

Margaret (Hardisty) Fenton was the grand-daughter of Eliza (McDougall) Hardisty. This item was originally included with Northern Alberta Pioneers and Old Timers Association photographs (EA-10-2645), but there is no documentation concerning its deposit in the Archives.

Scope and content

This fonds consists of a letter of sympathy to Eliza Hardisty on the death of her husband, Richard Hardisty, 31 Dec 1889, from members of the Hudson’s Bay Company.
