Historia administrativa
In 1967 a group of enthusiasts met to pursue the Japanese art of floral arrangement; they soon became prospects to form a charter group of Ikebana International. In October 1968 the Japanese Consulate introduced Mrs. Sosui Ono, a Master of Ikebana, to demonstrate Ikebana to the Ladies of the Edmonton Art Gallery. The first Ikebana International group of Edmonton was soon formed and sponsored by the Edmonton Art Gallery and the Provincial Government of Alberta. In 1969 Dr. Marion Shipley, a founding member, became president and served for many years. A charter was granted to the group by Ikebana International on September 1, 1971. The group was involved in the Kurimoto Japanese Garden at the Devonian Botanic Garden. The group disbanded ca. 1991.
