        History

        Mary Warren Campbell (Mrs. J.E. Campbell) was born in Edmonton in 1927 and lived most of her early life in Garneau. Her parents were Percival and Evelyn Warren who came to Edmonton from Ontario. P.S. Warren was a geologist who taught at the University and also became head of the Geology department before his retirement in 1955. He was an expert in fossils. Mary attended the University of Alberta in the 1940s receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1949, and married James E. Campbell, a Bachelor of Education graduate, in 1950. Mrs. Campbell was an active volunteer with the Consumers Association of Canada, the Historical Society of Alberta and the City of Edmonton and the University of Alberta Archives.
