Biografie
Edna Beatrice (Beatrice) Parker married William Tennyson Nordon around 1947, likely in Edmonton. William worked as a civil servant in Edmonton and Beatrice was a teacher. After marriage, Beatrice worked at the Holden School in Holden, Alberta, and was on staff when the new Holden High School opened in February 1952. It is likely that while working in Holden, she was part of the local Alberta Teachers’ Association.
In the mid 1950’s Beatrice and William moved to Jasper, but returned to Edmonton in 1958. Beatrice continued to teach in Edmonton and William remained a civil servant.
After the death of her husband in 1967, Beatrice continued to teach in Edmonton. In 1975, Beatrice retired and moved to British Columbia.
In 1985 the Holden High School was closed with the senior high school grades moving to Ryley, Alberta, and the Holden School becoming grades K to 9. In 1999, the junior high grades moved to Ryley, Alberta, with Holden School becoming a ECS to Grade 6 School. In the spring of 2020, the Battle River School District voted to consolidate grades K to 9 at Ryley and close Holden School.
