Biographical history

Alvin J. and Annie Froehler were residents of Edmonton living at 9252 – 110A Avenue from the late 1920s till the late 1950s.
Anna (Annie) Gertrude Rieland was born 9 Mar 1869 to Mary Ann Borgess and Josephus Eduard Rieland in Minnesota, USA. In 1909 she married Alvin (Albinius) Froehler in Ohio. They immigrated to Canada in 1911, first moving to Saskatchewan then to Alberta, settling in Strathcona.
Annie and Alvin had seven children - Helena (Lena), Olivia (Olive), Mimi, Eva, Ann, Freda and Raymond. Alvin worked as a truck driver
Alvin Froehler died 5 Feb 1959 and Annie Froehler died 17 Oct 1961.

Custodial history

Linda Betlam resided at 9252 – 110A Avenue at the time of the donation, which was the same house where the Froehler’s lived in 1931. It is assumed the bills were found in the house.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of two bills for Mrs. A. Froehler at 9252 – 110A Avenue, Edmonton, specifically from the City of Edmonton Electric, Light and Power Department, and the City of Edmonton Waterworks Department. On the verso of the bills are notes and instructions for the homeowner, including promotion of the modern electric refrigerator and advice on changing electrical service when moving.
