Name of creator
Albert Whelpley was born 31 Oct 1912 to Annie and Arthur Whelpley in Edmonton. Albert married Ruth K. Hanson in 1937 in Edmonton. Albert worked for the Canadian National Railway (C.N.R.) from age 15 until retirement at age 60. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Highland Golf Glub.
Albert Whelpley died 13 March 2005 in Edmonton.
It is not known how Albert Whelpley acquired the images. Given the images are the same year as Albert Whelpley's birth, it is possible they were passed down in the family.
Scope and content
The fonds consists of two panorama images of Edmonton including the river valley and the Edmonton skyline from the roof of the Tegler Building.
Immediate source of acquisition
This fonds was donated to the City of Edmonton Archives by Albert Whelpley in 1983.
The photographs were arranged according to the filing system of the creator and assigned item numbers with the prefix EA-506.
