Gertrude Doughty, daughter of Charles George Doughty and Elizabeth Maidstone, was born in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England in 1898. She immigrated to Canada with her mother and siblings in 1907, arriving in Montreal and living briefly in Ontario.|She lived in Edmonton and worked for Alberta Government Telephones as a telephone operator from 1921 to 1938. Her sister Bessie Doughty also worked as a telephone operator for A.G.T.|She married Charles Everett Lake, a clerk with the Post Office, in 1939 or 1940. In 1942, they moved to 11506

Lake, Gertrude Doughty

Gertrude Doughty, daughter of Charles George Doughty and Elizabeth Maidstone, was born in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England in 1898. She immigrated to Canada with her mother and siblings in 1907, arriving in Montreal and living briefly in Ontario.

She lived in Edmonton and worked for Alberta Government Telephones as a telephone operator from 1921 to 1938. Her sister Bessie Doughty also worked as a telephone operator for A.G.T. She married Charles Everett Lake, a clerk with the Post Office, in 1939 or 1940. In 1942, they moved to 11506 – 94 Street, Edmonton.
Charles retired in the late 1940s and died in 1972. Gertrude remained in the house on 94 Street until 1974, when she moved into the McGugan Nursing home.

Gertrude Doughty Lake died in 1988. Charles and Gertrude Lake are buried in the Beechmount Cemetery, Edmonton.

L.J.A. Lambert was a resident of Edmonton in the early 1900s. He was the proprietor of The Imperial Stables: Livery & Horse Emporium which was located on the west side of 105th Street. Lambert was also a member of the Legislative Assembly of the North-West Territories for St. Albert in 1904.
Lambert’s grandson was Marcel Lambert, was a long standing Member of Parliament for an Edmonton Constituency.

In 1927 he married Mary Allen in Edmonton. Charles Henry Lane worked for Arctic Ice and then for the Engineer’s Department at the City of Edmonton for 44 yrs.
Charles Henry Lane died in 1970 in Edmonton.

Latimer, William D.

Likely attracted by the real estate boom in Edmonton between 1904 and 1912, William D. Latimer was in Edmonton by 1909 and self employed as a contractor. He lived around 107 Avenue and 104 Street in the Central-McDougall area of Edmonton.

In 1912, William was building two homes in the Delton neighbourhood, at the then Lots 13 and 14, Block 15.

By 1915 William D. Latimer had left Edmonton likely due to the bottom dropping out of the city’s real estate market in 1913.
